The «Green ICT Detectives» project is a dynamic and innovative Erasmus+ partnership bringing together three secondary schools from distinct regions of Europe: IES Playamar (Spain), Mendelova střední škola (Czech Republic), and L Liceo Classico Scientifico Statale Euclide (Italy). This collaboration is born from a shared concern to address environmental challenges through the very tools that define modern life—Information and Communication Technologies (ICT).

P1: Green Detectives Mobility in Spain
Mission
Our primary mission is to transform students into environmental investigators, or «Detectives,» who utilize ICT not just as consumers, but as analytical and creative tools to understand, monitor, and advocate for sustainability. The project addresses the paradox of ICT: its critical role in climate solutions versus its significant environmental footprint (from energy consumption to e-waste).
We will align with the Enviromental Agenda 2030 objetives
Key Objectives:
- Raise Environmental Consciousness: To cultivate a deep, research-based understanding of local and global ecological issues among students.
- Develop Green Digital Skills: To equip students with the ability to use ICT tools (data analysis, remote sensing, digital storytelling, coding) responsibly and for ecological benefit.
- Promote Investigative Learning: To move beyond passive learning by engaging students in active scientific inquiry and fieldwork.
- Foster European Collaboration: To encourage intercultural dialogue and the sharing of best practices regarding sustainability across Spain, the Czech Republic, and Italy.

Activity Framework:
The «Green ICT Detectives» will engage in three main types of investigative activities:
- Detective Work Module 1: The Invisible Footprint (Remote Investigation) Students will research and calculate the carbon footprint of their own digital habits (streaming, gaming, social media) and the life cycle of their devices. They will develop guides on «Digital Cleanups» and «Sustainable IT practices for their schools».
- Detective Work Module 2: Community Eco-Audit (Local Fieldwork) Each school will identify a local environmental issue (e.g., air quality around the school, water waste in agriculture, loss of biodiversity in urban areas). Using ICT tools like environmental sensors, GPS mapping, and digital observation logs, they will collect and analyze real data to propose tech-supported solutions.
- Detective Work Module 3: Digital Advocacy & Reporting (Creative Dissemination) Acting as investigative journalists, the students will translate their findings into impactful digital campaigns. They will create documentary shorts, interactive maps, and social media content to raise awareness within their local communities and the wider European network.
Through joint learning activities and transnational mobilities, the Green ICT Detectives will build bridges between nations, proving that technology, when guided by environmental consciousness, is our most powerful tool for investigative change.
